Board Certified Hand Therapist
It takes someone special to become a Board-Certified Hand Therapist, or CHT. You must have a minimum of five years of clinical experience and more than 4,000 hours of hand therapy practice to achieve board certification. And with the certification's rigorous requirements and demanding commitment of time, energy and desire to help, it is no wonder that there are only a relatively small number of CHTs around the nation. Because we have a CHT on staff, Maximum Impact offers advanced physical therapy for patients whose upper extremities have been affected by injury or illness.

Certified McKenzie Method Practitioner
Unique to the McKenzie Method is a comprehensive and logical step-by-step process to evaluate the patient's problem quickly. This mechanical examination can "classify" most patient conditions by the level of pain or limitation that results from certain movements or positions. A McKenzie assessment can eliminate the need for expensive and/or invasive procedures.
McKenzie treatment prescribes a series of individualized exercises. The emphasis is on active patient involvement, which minimizes the number of visits to the clinic. Ultimately, most patients can successfully treat themselves when provided the necessary knowledge and tools. For patients with more difficult mechanical problems, a certified McKenzie clinician can provide advanced hands-on techniques until the patient can self-administer.
By learning how to self-treat the current problem, patients gain hands-on knowledge on how to minimize the risk of recurrence and to rapidly deal with recurrence if it occurs. The likelihood of problems persisting can more likely be prevented through self-maintenance.

Postural Restoration Practitioner
Postural Restoration-trained therapists recognize the natural asymmetries in the body with respect to the neurological, respiratory and muscular systems. These asymmetries need to be balanced through proper positioning and functional movement patterns. Pain, dysfunction and delayed healing result when this integrated system becomes imbalanced. Postural Restoration-trained therapists incorporate manual therapy techniques, muscular retraining and positioning to balance this system for optimal function and healing.

Myofascial Release Practitioners
Myofascial release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Fascia is a tough, densely woven connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web from head to toe without interruption.
In the normal healthy state, the fascia has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When we experience trauma or inflammation, the fascia loses its flexibility. It becomes tight and can be a source of tension to the rest of the body. Trauma, such as whiplash, fall, surgery or habitual poor posture over time, has a cumulative effect. The fascia can exert excessive pressure, producing pain, headaches and/or restriction of motion.
Traditional care does not attend to fascia, this is why so many patients have only temporary results and never seem to get better with traditional therapy.

Craniosacral Practitioners
The practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is optimized, and misaligned bones are restored to their proper position. Craniosacral Practitioners use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.
